Why desktop software still makes sense
In a lot of work the connection is unreliable, speed matters a great deal, or devices are wired to the computer: receipt printers, barcode scanners. A shop's point of sale, a remote warehouse, an accounts office working on the same screen all day: in these cases software on the machine is faster and more dependable than a web page.
How we work
- A visit or call to see the real work: who uses it, on how many machines, and what gets printed.
- Screens designed for input speed: keyboard shortcuts and no extra steps, so a cashier or clerk finishes fast.
- Built on a local database: the software keeps working when the internet drops.
- Sync: with several branches or machines, data syncs to a central server as soon as the connection returns.
- Installation and training: we install on the machines and run a training session for staff.
Updates without a visit
The software checks for a new version and updates itself, so nobody has to visit every machine. Data is backed up before every update.
Printing and devices
Thermal receipts, A4 reports, barcodes, cash drawers: we test on the same devices you have before hand-over, not only on the developer's machine.
Permissions
Each user signs in with their own rights: the cashier sells, the manager sees reports and processes returns, and every sensitive action is logged under the name of whoever did it.
