Warsha — Local Dev Cloud for Windows
A Windows desktop app replacing XAMPP: every project gets its own PHP version, database and trusted .test domain, inside WSL2 and Docker.

01The problem
XAMPP runs one PHP version and one database for every project. When an old project needs PHP 7.4 and a new one needs 8.4, or two projects need different settings, developers spend their time fixing conflicts instead of working.
02What we built
We built a Windows desktop app with Tauri 2 and an engine written in Rust. It provisions a dedicated WSL2 distro running Docker and runs every project in isolation with the PHP and Node versions it needs and a trusted .test domain. Shared services (databases, Redis and a test mailbox) are managed from one screen, alongside XAMPP migration and backups.
03Key features
- A dedicated PHP version per project, from 7.4 to 8.5
- Node 16 to 26 per project
- A .test domain signed by a trusted local certificate authority
- MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis and Mailpit ready to use
- XAMPP migration with files and databases
- A Rust engine in 6 crates; Arabic and English UI in light and dark
Product screens
Dashboard: services, sites and the default PHP version
Sites in dark mode, each with its own PHP version
Shared services: databases, Redis and tools
FAQ
About this project
-
Can I download Warsha?
Not yet. The app is finished and working, and is going through its final pre-release stage. It will be available here once released.
-
Does it need Docker Desktop?
No. Warsha provisions its own WSL2 distro running Docker, so neither Docker Desktop nor XAMPP is needed.
-
Can I move my projects from XAMPP?
Yes. A migration copies the files and converts the database, even when moving from MySQL to MariaDB or PostgreSQL.
-
Can you build desktop software for me?
Yes. We build light Windows apps with Tauri and Rust, or Electron when a project needs it, with auto-updates and a tray icon.
